Privacy Policy
The short version: NearVista does not collect, store, or share your personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything you save stays on your device.
Information we collect
None. NearVista has no servers of its own and does not transmit your saved places, lists, notes, photos, or settings anywhere. The developer cannot see any of your data.
Location
NearVista uses your device's location only while the app is open, to find nearby places, show your current address, plan routes, and record the address when you capture a location. Location is not collected in the background and is not stored off your device. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Camera and photos
If you attach a photo note to a place, the photo is stored only on your device. Camera access is requested solely for that purpose.
Contacts
If you choose Save Contact for a place, NearVista writes that one entry to your Contacts app. It never reads your existing contacts.
Services the app talks to
To do its job, NearVista sends search requests — which necessarily include the coordinates being searched around — to these providers. No account identifiers or personal details are included.
- Apple Maps (MapKit) — place search, addresses, directions, and drive times. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap (Overpass API) — rest-stop facilities, cross streets, and street address lists. Governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
- Apple Weather (WeatherKit) — current conditions at your location.
Purchases
NearVista Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple. NearVista never sees your payment information. Purchases can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Backups
The Back Up My Data feature creates a file containing your lists, saved places, photo notes, and settings, and hands it to you through the iOS share sheet. Where that file goes — iCloud Drive, another app, an email — is entirely your choice and under your control.
Children
NearVista is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
